Woodbine Apartments partners with Downingtown Country Club for free golf and dining
Living at Woodbine Apartments means access to top-tier entertainment and recreation, and as summer is right around the corner, we know our residents are eyeing our neighbors at Downingtown Country Club.
That’s why Woodbine has partnered with Downingtown Country Club, offering residents a free round of golf followed by dinner for two in the club’s Seven-Tap room. Additionally, DCC is offering Woodbine residents unlimited golf cart rentals (a $900 value) with the purchase of any membership status.
Downingtown Country Club is a picturesque 18-hole course designed by George Fazio. Well known for its dramatically shaped bunkers, open gently rolling fairways and subtle greens, the course, owned by former Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Ron Jaworski, is a straightforward, fair test of golf designed for players of all levels.
The course itself has a long history.
Built in the 1960s on the former Ashbridge Farm, the course was first home to the Downingtown Motor Inn, a grand resort featuring hotel rooms, two swimming pools, ballrooms and restaurants.
The Motor Inn itself was built by order of Tabas Enterprises and it is said that Mickey Rooney slept at the inn. Dan Tabas, who owned the Motor Inn had actually met Mickey Rooney and began a long friendship while Rooney was touring Europe as part of the USO’s entertaining of troops during World War II.
After Tabas built the Downingtown Motor Inn, he enlisted Rooney to attract visitors, including his entertainment friends like Frank Gorshin and Robert Goulet, drawing regional and even national interest to the Chester County inn.
Today, Downingtown Country Club’s 6,619 yard, par-72 course is one of the best known in the Greater Philadelphia Region for both golf and as a private event venue, hosting local weddings, parties and fundraisers.
